Let’s take a look at 4 standout trends for Bridal Spring & Summer 2017
#1 - YOUNG LOVE
The now traditional concept of wearing a white wedding dress was made popular by Queen Victoria of Great Britain in the mid 1800s as she wanted to include pieces of lace to her dress in an attempt to add a dramatic yet delicate flair. This seasons ode to Victorian fashion, show designers incorporating strong yet beautiful necklines, full skirts, extremely feminine laces, and delicate pleating. They say the trend “hearkened to a youthful innocence bridal runways have been lacking lately” and designers such as Vera Wang entitled her Fall 2017 collection "Young Love," while Monique Lhuillier started her show proceedings with a series of adjectives, beginning with the keyword "youthful." This is definitely the way to go, if you want your fresh inner elegance to be expressed!
#2 - TAKE A BOW
How elegant! A perfectly executed bow on a wedding dress is definitely an eye catcher. An architecturally designed knot that is modernizing the art of waist cinching and also as depicted above adds a gorgeous storybook like flair to a simple dress. There isn’t much need of add-ons with these dress styles because these embellished gowns say it all.
#3 - SPECIAL EFFECTS
While lace will always be loved and respected as the go to material to add gorgeous effects to any dress, this season ribbon-work, matelassé, devouré and textural laces like guipure, macrame and re-appliquéd and embroidered laces definitely took a stance. These architectural silhouettes gave more options for the romantic styles, while adding a visual wakefulness. This can be an option if you’re a lace lover but just want to add a little dazzle to the final pieces. Not to mention the eloquence that is told through these pieces by the observers.
#4 - LATIN FLAIR
Fringe, bold floral thread-work and tiers upon tiers of ruffles all evoked an easy Latin flair with similarities from the tradition Spanish festivals. This trend would be a beautiful if you are planning a beachside/sea view wedding, or your theme is natural or nature driven with flowing ivy and beautiful flowers everywhere. Also if you just want to be the daring city-chic that you are this trend works perfectly as this style brings life and energy without needing much of anything else, like a rose or mantilla. Some even consider this to be a Bohemian theme. It is fine, dare to express yourself in your own artistic way, and be the trending topic.
